Our Heartbeat

THESE ARE OUR CORE VALUES, WHAT WE BELIEVE, AND WHERE WE'RE GOING

Beliefs

God

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three personalities: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.

Genesis 1:1,26,27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; II Corinthians 13:14

Jesus

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again to earth to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.

Matthew 1:22,23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14,15; 1 Corinthians 15:3,4; Romans 1:3,4; Acts 1:9-11; I Timothy 6:14,15; Titus 2:13

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation and equips to minister to others. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right.

II Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16,17; Acts 1:8; I Corinthians 2:12, 3:16;Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:1

Core Values

Passionate Worship

Giving Jesus our highest praise and deepest affection, experiencing His presence with authenticity.

Transformation

Through the work of Jesus on the cross we are transformed from orphans to sons and daughters, captive to free, from fearful to brave and through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit we walk in lasting life change.

Romans 1:16, 5:1-2, 6:4, 12:1-2

Missional Living

Making a difference every day by going into the community, sharing the Gospel message in relevant and practical ways, through love, service, and power.

Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 1:8, 1 Corinthians 4:20, 2 Corinthians 5:11-21

Relational Maturity

Growing healthy multi-generational, life-giving, Christ-centered relationships in our church, small groups, families, and communities.

John 17:21, Genesis 1:26, Acts 2:42-47

Sincere Love

Out of the resources and goodness of God, simply serving with integrity and excellence, treating all people with compassion and honor.

Pioneering

Venturing with God in innovative and creative ways to extend the Kingdom into places unknown.

As a teen, Doug Roe found Christ and was looking to be of a part of a church that was doing what Jesus did. He would look unsuccessfully until the 1980s when he was introduced to the ministry of John Wimber and the Vineyard Church movement. Doug and his wife Marcie, found the church they had been looking for the moment they walked into the Vineyard Church in Cincinnati.

Doug, who always desired a roll in church leadership, would join the staff of The Cincinnati Vineyard, leaving his job in corporate America. It was during that time Doug would meet Scott Sliver, a worship leader and a small businessman. Becoming friends the duo would learn they shared a unique dream, to see a church like the Vineyard in Dayton.

Soon the two ordinary guys would pack up their families, leave Cincinnati for Dayton to change the world. They would plant The Vineyard church in Dayton with a single goal, to make a lasting change on the city in simple ways with the love and power of God. Since planting the church over 20 years ago, they have never looked back, leading the church in innovative ways of making God’s love known throughout the city and beyond.

Veterans Day

Weekend Services

This year at Vineyard Church, we want to do things a little different for Veterans Day. We have decided to dedicate an entire weekend to honoring those men and women among us who have or are currently serving in the armed forces protecting our freedom and preserving our way of life.

Please join us on November 8th @ 5:30pm and November 9th at 9:30am and 11:15am to acknowledge and bless our veterans. We are bringing in a guest speaker Mike Hutchings from Global Awakening, setting aside the lodge for a special prayer/blessing room, and asking our church body to bring gift cards to bless and honor our veterans.

*If you are a veteran in Dayton Ohio, we would like to formally invite you to this weekend and please feel free to wear your uniform! Thank you for your service!

Veterans, we honor you.

Giving is an act of worship

Why:
  • Giving is an act of worship that expresses our love and thankfulness to God by first acknowledging what He has supplied and entrusted to us.
Result:
  • Giving changes lives, both the one living generously and the many touched through Dayton Vineyard’s success in making long lasting practical and spiritual differences throughout the city and beyond.
