God Gives the Name
1. My name is brave
When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.”…(Judges 6:12 NIV)
The angel is pronouncing over him what God wants him to be, not what he is.
God doesn’t call the brave, He names you BRAVE.
In one word: identity
What is lying at your door?
What is your name?
2. I am God’s answer
See: Judges 6:12-16 NIV
In one word: preparation
You can’t do battle with the enemies outside your camp until you win the victory over the enemies inside your camp.
What do you need to lay down in order to be focused on Jesus?
What does God want you to replace it with?
3. I am not alone
See: Judges 6:34 NIV, Judges 7:2-3 NIV, Judges 7:7 NIV, Judges 7:14 NIV
In one word: presence
It’s not about closing your eyes to the things that scare you, but opening your eyes to the presence of God.
Yahweh is defined as “I was, I am, I will be.”
See: Psalm 56:11 NIV
Where is Jesus when I am alone?
4. I AM His victory roar
See: Judges 7:17-21 NIV
By obeying His directive we become His victory ROAR; that brings triumph.
See: Joshua 8:9 NIV
How is parenting my victory ROAR?
How does heaven ROAR over you?
Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. (Deuteronomy 6:7-9 NIV)
And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man. (Luke 2:52 NIV)
