Welcome to my online blog for our Vineyard Life Journal!
This forum IS NOT for debate or to correct each other, but to share our insights and observations. (Actually, I will be keeping a pretty tight rein on the comments section, and I will have the ability to block trolls, spammers or those who just want to stir the pot.)
Before you comment or read what I have posted, read today’s passages for yourself and complete your own S.O.A.P. exercise… (If you read mine first, it may taint what you think.)

Job 22 Eliphaz’s response to Job… 23 “If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored: If you remove wickedness far from your tent…”
Mark 7:5 “So the Pharisees and teachers of the law asked Jesus, “Why don’t your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders instead of eating their food with defiled hands?” 6 He replied, “Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written: “‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.”
14 “Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen to me, everyone, and understand this. 15 Nothing outside a person can defile them by going into them. Rather, it is what comes out of a person that defiles them.”
Mark 8 The disciples had forgotten to bring bread, except for one loaf they had with them in the boat. 15 “Be careful,” Jesus warned them. “Watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees and that of Herod.” 16 They discussed this with one another and said, “It is because we have no bread.” 17 Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked them: “Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened? 18 Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don’t you remember? 19 When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?” “Twelve,” they replied. 20 “And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?” They answered, “Seven.”
21 He said to them, “Do you still not understand?”
Even the disciples, who were with Jesus day in and day out for THREE YEARS still didn’t “get it.” I can just see them fumbling over themselves at the thought that they had forgotten to bring enough bread, when Jesus told them to “watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees.” lol
I know I ranted a bit yesterday… perhaps it wasn’t “ranting” as much as sorting out my own thoughts about certain points of theology and commonly held beliefs that people just accept. Perhaps I was just more vocal and transparent than usual…
Actually I’m probably guilty of not giving God credit for certain things as well as blaming Him for other things… Guessing we all are. We just try to apply our human thinking and understanding to things that are well beyond 1+1=2. We try to make sense out of things that just can’t be made sense of…
I process events out of a belief that God is good. That is my lens. I believe He is merciful and that He does not treat us as our sins deserve, Psalm 103.
Otherwise, we would all be toast.
Lord, I believe you are good. All the time. Thank you for not giving me what I deserve!
