Welcome to my online blog for our Vineyard Life Journal!
This forum IS NOT for debate or to correct each other, but to share our insights and observations. (Actually, I will be keeping a pretty tight rein on the comments section, and I will have the ability to block trolls, spammers or those who just want to stir the pot.)
Before you comment or read what I have posted, read today’s passages for yourself and complete your own S.O.A.P. exercise… (If you read mine first, it may taint what you think.)

Here is my SOAP for today, Wednesday, October 24, 2018
Job 15:5 Eliphaz responds to Job… “Your sin prompts your mouth;”
Acts 19:1-7 “While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There he found some disciples 2 and asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They answered, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.” 3 So Paul asked, “Then what baptism did you receive?” “John’s baptism,” they replied. 4 Paul said, “John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus.” 5 On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied. 7 There were about twelve men in all.”
18 “Many of those who believed now came and openly confessed what they had done. 19 A number who had practiced sorcery brought their scrolls together and burned them publicly. When they calculated the value of the scrolls, the total came to fifty thousand drachmas. 20 In this way the word of the Lord spread widely and grew in power.”
(The riot in Ephesus is awesome. lol)
Acts 20:32 “Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.” Paul
Paul is in full missionary mode… traveling around and preaching and teaching and performing miracles! Wow!
This particular passage from Acts 19:18-20 is very personal for me. When my wife Bonnie and I were first married, we were attending a church in my hometown… I was teaching the high schoolers and I hosted an event with a bonfire where I burned all of my albums. I called it “a 50,000 drachma fire.” I felt I needed to purge myself of what I had idolized. I was and still am glad I did that… I needed to do it. I have no idea what fruit came from it or what impact it may have had on those kids, but it made a huge impact on me.
Sometimes we just need to purge ourselves of things that are holding us back!
By the way… Some friends Job had! Sheesh!
I thank you Lord for speaking to me all those years ago about purging myself of all that negative music and idols. Thank you for your faithfulness to me over the years!
