Welcome to my online blog for our Vineyard Life Journal!
This forum IS NOT for debate or to correct each other, but to share our insights and observations. (Actually, I will be keeping a pretty tight rein on the comments section, and I will have the ability to block trolls, spammers or those who just want to stir the pot.)
Before you comment or read what I have posted, read today’s passages for yourself and complete your own S.O.A.P. exercise… (If you read mine first, it may taint what you think.)

Here is my SOAP for today, Saturday, September 8, 2018
Jeremiah 42:5 “Then they said to Jeremiah, “May the Lord be a true and faithful witness against us if we do not act in accordance with everything the Lord your God sends you to tell us. 6 Whether it is favorable or unfavorable, we will obey the Lord our God, to whom we are sending you, so that it will go well with us, for we will obey the Lord our God.”
Jeremiah 43:1 “When Jeremiah had finished telling the people all the words of the Lord their God—everything the Lord had sent him to tell them— 2 Azariah son of Hoshaiah and Johanan son of Kareah and all the arrogant men said to Jeremiah, “You are lying! The Lord our God has not sent you to say, ‘You must not go to Egypt to settle there.’ 3 But Baruch son of Neriah is inciting you against us to hand us over to the Babylonians, so they may kill us or carry us into exile to Babylon.” 4 So Johanan son of Kareah and all the army officers and all the people disobeyed the Lord’s command to stay in the land of Judah.”
7 “So they entered Egypt in disobedience to the Lord and went as far as Tahpanhes.”
Jeremiah 44:1 “This word came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews living in Lower Egypt—in Migdol, Tahpanhes and Memphis—and in Upper Egypt: 2 “This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: You saw the great disaster I brought on Jerusalem and on all the towns of Judah. Today they lie deserted and in ruins 3 because of the evil they have done. They aroused my anger by burning incense to and worshiping other gods that neither they nor you nor your ancestors ever knew. 4 Again and again I sent my servants the prophets, who said, ‘Do not do this detestable thing that I hate!’ 5 But they did not listen or pay attention; they did not turn from their wickedness or stop burning incense to other gods. 6 Therefore, my fierce anger was poured out; it raged against the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem and made them the desolate ruins they are today.”
25 “We will certainly carry out the vows we made to burn incense and pour out drink offerings to the Queen of Heaven.”
Psalms 48:11 “Mount Zion rejoices, the villages of Judah are glad because of your judgments.”
Revelation 13:18 “This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. That number is 666.”
It’s hard to fathom that the Israelites from Jerusalem and Judah would even consider going to Egypt…
Psalms 48:11 “Mount Zion rejoices, the villages of Judah are glad because of your judgments.” The villages are not glad anymore… they lay desolate.
How did they get so far off track? I guess as generations pass, even in our time, the values from one generation are not embraced by the next. Even worshiping the Queen of Heaven?? And when Jeremiah didn’t prophesy what they wanted to hear, they did exactly the opposite of what he said NOT to do. “Don’t go to Egypt!” “You can’t stop us!”
666 is “man’s number” or, “the number of humanity.”
People have always, and always will, do what they want to.
How sad that Jerusalem and Judah lay in waste…
(Did you notice “the Lord YOUR God” vs. “the Lord OUR God?”)
Lord help me to stay close to you. Not my will but thy will be done.
