Welcome to my online blog for our Vineyard Life Journal!
This forum IS NOT for debate or to correct each other, but to share our insights and observations. (Actually, I will be keeping a pretty tight rein on the comments section, and I will have the ability to block trolls, spammers or those who just want to stir the pot.)
Before you comment or read what I have posted, read today’s passages for yourself and complete your own S.O.A.P. exercise… (If you read mine first, it may taint what you think.)

Here is my SOAP for today, Thursday, June 28, 2018
Amos addresses Israel’s two primary sins: 1) an absence of true worship, and 2) a lack of justice. In the midst of their ritualistic performance of worship, they were not pursuing the Lord with their hearts (4:4, 5; 5:4–6) nor following His standard of justice with their neighbors (5:10–13; 6:12). https://www.gty.org/library/bible-introductions/MSB30
Amos 1:3 “This is what the Lord says: “For three sins of [NAME OF TRIBE], even for four, I will not relent. Because _________…”
Amos 2:6 “This is what the Lord says: “For three sins of Israel, even for four, I will not relent. They ___________…”
Amos 3:1 “Hear this word, people of Israel, the word the Lord has spoken against you—against the whole family I brought up out of Egypt:”
Psalms 80:19 “Restore us, Lord God Almighty; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved.”
2 Timothy 4:2 “Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.”
5 “Keep your head in all situations…”
7 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”
I love how Paul could be so practical one moment and so deep the next… “Keep your head in all situations…” “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”
I did a funeral Tuesday… I read this passage at most of the funerals I officiate… Especially when someone dies of cancer and has fought a long battle… It is a verse filled with hope of what is in store for us! (It also speaks of Christ’s return, “his appearing.”)
Lord help me to “keep my head in all situations.”
Lord help me to keep my head in all situations… Yes and amen!
