Welcome to my online blog for our Vineyard Life Journal!
This forum IS NOT for debate or to correct each other, but to share our insights and observations. (Actually, I will be keeping a pretty tight rein on the comments section, and I will have the ability to block trolls, spammers or those who just want to stir the pot.)
Before you comment or read what I have posted, read today’s passages for yourself and complete your own S.O.A.P. exercise… (If you read mine first, it may taint what you think.)

Here is my SOAP for today, Wednesday, May 30, 2018
Proverbs 13:3 “Those who guard their lips preserve their lives, but those who speak rashly will come to ruin.”
7 “One person pretends to be rich, yet has nothing; another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth.”
15 “Good judgment wins favor…”
Proverbs 14:12 “There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.”
20 “The poor are shunned even by their neighbors, but the rich have many friends. 21 It is a sin to despise one’s neighbor, but blessed is the one who is kind to the needy.”
31 “Whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God.”
34 “Righteousness exalts a nation… but sin condemns any people.”
Proverbs 15:1 “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”
16 “Better a little with the fear of the Lord than great wealth with turmoil. 17 Better a small serving of vegetables with love than a fattened calf with hatred.”
18 “A hot-tempered person stirs up conflict, but the one who is patient calms a quarrel.”
33 “Wisdom’s instruction is to fear the Lord, and humility comes before honor.”
Romans 11:6 “And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.”
17 “… and you, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root…”
33 “Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!”
36 “For from him and through him and for him are all things.
To him be the glory forever! Amen.”
Today there were so many great nuggets of gold in the Proverbs… I am especially drawn to verses about wisdom and favor… and the poor/needy, how to treat them.
I have always liked the “wild olive shoot” imagery in Romans…
It’s one thing to read a proverb… or to know what to do. It’s another thing to apply it… or to do it… Put it into practice. Always the key to reading the Bible… put it into practice.
Lord help me to walk in wisdom!
