Welcome to my online blog for our Vineyard Life Journal!
This forum IS NOT for debate or to correct each other, but to share our insights and observations. (Actually, I will be keeping a pretty tight rein on the comments section, and I will have the ability to block trolls, spammers or those who just want to stir the pot.)
Before you comment or read what I have posted, read today’s passages for yourself and complete your own S.O.A.P. exercise… (If you read mine first, it may taint what you think.)

Here is my SOAP for today, Monday, April 30, 2018
2 Samuel 6:16 “As the ark of the Lord was entering the City of David, Michal daughter of Saul watched from a window. And when she saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord, she despised him in her heart.”
20 “When David returned home to bless his household, Michal daughter of Saul came out to meet him and said, “How the king of Israel has distinguished himself today, going around half-naked in full view of the slave girls of his servants as any vulgar fellow would!” 21 David said to Michal, “It was before the Lord, who chose me rather than your father or anyone from his house when he appointed me ruler over the Lord’s people Israel—I will celebrate before the Lord. 22 I will become even more undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes. But by these slave girls you spoke of, I will be held in honor.”
1 Chronicles 13:9 “When they came to the threshing floor of Kidon, Uzzah reached out his hand to steady the ark, because the oxen stumbled. 10 The Lord’s anger burned against Uzzah, and he struck him down because he had put his hand on the ark. So he died there before God.”
14 “The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house for three months, and the Lord blessed his household and everything he had.”
Psalm 68:19 “Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. 20 Our God is a God who saves.”
Matthew 17:1 “After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. 2 There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. 3 Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus.”
27 “But so that we may not cause offense, go to the lake and throw out your line. Take the first fish you catch; open its mouth and you will find a four-drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for my tax and yours.”
So much in today’s readings… Jesus is transfigured, Jesus sends Peter to catch a fish… that will have a coin in its mouth… to pay their temple tax. David dances before the Lord, Uzzah touched the Ark and died, Obed-Edom the Gittite took the Ark to his house for three months…
- How cool would it be to have been on the Mount of Transfiguration with Jesus… Moses AND Elijah??
- Catch a fish with a coin in its mouth… to pay my taxes. Pretty cool. Unusual, for sure.
- David danced with all his might before the Lord… one of his wives was embarrassed by David’s behavior. Michal, Saul’s daughter… seems there was some resentment there.
- Why would Obed-Edom be willing to take the Ark into his home, after Uzzah died while transporting it??
It’s worth noting that David came home to BLESS his family… but was met with criticism from his wife… Being critical and demeaning cost her her ability to have children. Ouch.
Lord, I thank you that You provide in unusual ways… Help me to always trust You. May I be willing to dance before you with all my might.
