Welcome to my online blog for our Vineyard Life Journal!
This forum IS NOT for debate or to correct each other, but to share our insights and observations. (Actually, I will be keeping a pretty tight rein on the comments section, and I will have the ability to block trolls, spammers or those who just want to stir the pot.)
Before you comment or read what I have posted, read today’s passages for yourself and complete your own S.O.A.P. exercise… (If you read mine first, it may taint what you think.)

2 Samuel 3 So… David had sons with six different wives. And he had Michal brought back to him…
Abner was Saul’s cousin… 1 Samuel 14:50. Joab, the commander of David’s army, was David’s nephew, son of David’s sister Zeruiah. Joab killed/murdered Abner.
1 Chronicles 12, thousands of men/warriors from other tribes begin joining David’s army…
38 “All these were fighting men who volunteered to serve in the ranks. They came to Hebron fully determined to make David king over all Israel. All the rest of the Israelites were also of one mind to make David king.”
32 “from Issachar, men who understood the times and knew what Israel should do.”
Matthew 15:1 “Then some Pharisees and teachers of the law came to Jesus from Jerusalem and asked, 2 “Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? They don’t wash their hands before they eat!”
7 “You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you: 8 “‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.”
16 “Are you still so dull?” Jesus asked them. 17 “Don’t you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? 18 But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them. 19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. 20 These are what defile a person; but eating with unwashed hands does not defile them.”
Love that verse in 1 Chronicles 12:7:32 “from Issachar, men who understood the times and knew what Israel should do.” It would be so easy to pass right over that verse, but it speaks to me.
We all need people around us, our city and our nation need people who understand the times and know what we should do. People who know the times and the seasons with insight and ideas.
What comes out of our mouth comes out of our heart… Take note of what comes out of someone’s mouth… my mouth too. Do I honor God with my lips, but my heart is far away? It’s easy to do… say the right thing, sing the lyrics, but be emotionally miles away.
Lord go me me wisdom and insight to understand the times and to know what to do… at home, at church, in the city…
