Welcome to my online blog for our Vineyard Life Journal!
This forum IS NOT for debate or to correct each other, but to share our insights and observations. (Actually, I will be keeping a pretty tight rein on the comments section, and I will have the ability to block trolls, spammers or those who just want to stir the pot.)
Before you comment or read what I have posted, read today’s passages for yourself and complete your own S.O.A.P. exercise… (If you read mine first, it may taint what you think.)

Here is my SOAP for today, Friday, March 30, 2018
Judges 8:10 “Now Zebah and Zalmunna were in Karkor with a force of about 15,000 men, all that were left of the armies of the eastern peoples; 120,000 swordsmen had fallen.”
23 “But Gideon told them, “I will not rule over you, nor will my son rule over you. The Lord will rule over you.”
33 “No sooner had Gideon died than the Israelites again prostituted themselves to the Baals. They set up Baal-Berith as their god 34 and did not remember the Lord their God, who had rescued them from the hands of all their enemies on every side. 35 They also failed to show any loyalty to the family of Jerub-Baal (that is, Gideon) in spite of all the good things he had done for them.”
Psalm 42:11 “Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.”
1 Corinthians 15:9 “For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am.”
22 “For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.”
33 “Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”
56 “The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”
Sidenote: I read 1 Corinthians 15:50-56 at ever graveside service I do. “We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed.” “Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom…”
It appears as though Gideon still had all 300 men he started with, even though they had killed 105,000 men! Not bad for a guy with such a poor self-image… “How can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.” I love that God told Gideon to “Go in the strength that you have.” (Paul referred to himself as “the least of the Apostles.” Although Paul certainly didn’t have a poor self image… his was more in humility, not weakness.
I love “mining the gold out of people.” See the best in them, seeing their potential, empowering them and (hopefully) inspiring them to do great exploits for the Lord! I believe we are all like Gideon at some level, with our insecurities and family baggage… but God says, “Go in the strength that YOU have, MIGHTY WARRIOR!”
Even after Gideon had defeated over 100,000 warriors… He went from weakness to warrior! In humility, “Gideon told them, “I will not rule over you, nor will my son rule over you. The Lord will rule over you.”
Thank you Lord that you see our potential, each one of us, and you tell us to GO!
