Welcome to my online blog for our Vineyard Life Journal!
This forum IS NOT for debate or to correct each other, but to share our insights and observations. (Actually, I will be keeping a pretty tight rein on the comments section, and I will have the ability to block trolls, spammers or those who just want to stir the pot.)
Before you comment or read what I have posted, read today’s passages for yourself and complete your own S.O.A.P. exercise… (If you read mine first, it may taint what you think.)

Here is my SOAP for today, Monday, March 26, 2018
Joshua 23:11 “So be very careful to love the Lord your God.”
Joshua 24:14-15 “Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. 15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
29 “Joshua son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died at the age of a hundred and ten. 30 And they buried him in the land of his inheritance…”
THE END (of Joshua)
Psalms 44:1-3 “We have heard it with our ears, O God; our ancestors have told us what you did in their days, in days long ago. 2 With your hand you drove out the nations and planted our ancestors; you crushed the peoples and made our ancestors flourish. 3 It was not by their sword that they won the land, nor did their arm bring them victory; it was your right hand, your arm, and the light of your face, for you loved them.”
9 “But now…” (Not the words you want to hear…)
1 Corinthians 11 covering the head in worship/prayer. Abuse of the Lord’s Supper (Communion).
(Ladies, shall we talk about the length of your hair?) Passages like that make me scratch my head… Paul talks about NOT living under the Law, then he makes statements like that… That’s odd to me and seems… inconsistent.
27 “So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord.”
I love how Psalms 44 reflects on all the God did for the Israelites, in general, not specifically. But it captures in just a few sentences the nature of all that God did for them.
It’s important to remember that none of us is ever “worthy” to take Communion on our own merits. Obviously there must be some… standard… short of checking everyone’s spiritual “credentials” at the door, we are all responsible for how we live, what we do/don’t do.
I love how the Psalmist affirms their faith in God, that they were not freed by their own strength or sword. That is a great reminder for all of us. Zechariah 4:6 “Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit says the Lord.” Such a great reminder!
Lord, on this day, again, I choose to serve you. Help me to always remember “Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit says the Lord.”
