Welcome to my online blog for our Vineyard Life Journal!
This forum IS NOT for debate or to correct each other, but to share our insights and observations. (Actually, I will be keeping a pretty tight rein on the comments section, and I will have the ability to block trolls, spammers or those who just want to stir the pot.)
Before you comment or read what I have posted, read today’s passages for yourself and complete your own S.O.A.P. exercise… (If you read mine first, it may taint what you think.)

Here is my SOAP for today, Saturday, February 24, 2018
Numbers 14:4 “We should choose a leader and go back to Egypt.”
7 “The land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good.”
14:11 “How long will they refuse to believe in me, in spite of all the signs I have performed among them?”
14:20 “The Lord replied, “I have forgiven them, as you asked. Nevertheless…”
14:29 “Every one of you twenty years old or more who was counted in the census and who has grumbled against me. 30 Not one of you will enter the land I swore with uplifted hand to make your home, except Caleb and Joshua.”
Numbers 15 Instructions for an offering upon entering the Promised Land. Offerings for unintentional sins. Reminder of the consequences regarding breaking the Sabbath. Tassels for a reminder of the Law of the Lord.
Numbers 16 An uprising of discontented “insolent” men… 250+. Those leaders offered unauthorized fire… they were burned to death. The rest were swallowed up by the earth! And, 14,700 additional people died from a plague for being ungrateful and grumbling against Moses. (Yikes!)
16:12 “Then Moses summoned Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab. But they said, “We will not come! 13 Isn’t it enough that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey [EGYPT??] to kill us in the wilderness? And now you also want to lord it over us! 14 Moreover, you haven’t brought us into a land flowing with milk and honey or given us an inheritance of fields and vineyards. Do you want to treat these men like slaves? No, we will not come!”
Mark 3 Jesus healed a man with a shriveled hand on the Sabbath, appoints the twelve.
3:21 “When his family heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, “He is out of his mind.”
28 “Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, 29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.”
It’s interesting that those who were insolent and grumbled against Moses referred to the place they had come from (Egypt) as a land flowing with milk and honey… also saying that Moses had not lead them into a land flowing with milk and honey and NOW they claimed they were being treated as slaves… completely forgetting they had been slaves until Moses brought them out of Egypt!
Disobedience and arrogance are costly.
There will always be people that complain and challenge leadership.
As I mentioned in yesterday’s blog about how Caleb and Joshua saw through the lens of hope, seeing the possibilities and the goodness of God, while others only saw through a lens of fear, the glass was certainly half empty! They saw themselves as GRASSHOPPERS! (Small).
Note to self: Don’t blaspheme against the Holy Spirit. (Attributing the works of God/the Holy Spirit to Satan, in the context.) Mark 3:22 “By the prince of demons he is driving out demons.”
Lord help me to be a good follower, as well as a good leader! Help me to not grumble…
