Welcome to my online blog for our Vineyard Life Journal!
This forum IS NOT for debate or to correct each other, but to share our insights and observations. (Actually, I will be keeping a pretty tight rein on the comments section, and I will have the ability to block trolls, spammers or those who just want to stir the pot.)
Before you comment or read what I have posted, read today’s passages for yourself and complete your own S.O.A.P. exercise… (If you read mine first, it may taint what you think.)

Here is my SOAP for today, Wednesday, February 21, 2018
Numbers 8 setting up the lamps in the tabernacle, setting apart the Levites,
Numbers 9 regulations regarding the Passover, the cloud of God’s Presence.
23 “At the Lord’s command they encamped, and at the Lord’s command they set out. They obeyed the Lord’s order, in accordance with his command through Moses.”
Acts 28 Paul is shipwrecked on Malta, bitten by a viper and lives. They stayed on Malta for 3 months… then set sail for Rome. Paul was detained in his own home with only one guard and was guests were allowed to come and go.
30 “For two whole years Paul stayed there in his own rented house and welcomed all who came to see him. 31 He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ—with all boldness and without hindrance!”
It’s never a good idea to insult your crowd by quoting scripture… (Isaiah 6:9-10)
26 “You will be ever hearing but never understanding…”
Acts 28:28 “Therefore I want you to know that God’s salvation has been sent to the Gentiles, and they will listen!” (The same thing happened in Jerusalem!)
I really think Paul was unwise in his approach to preaching the gospel to the Jews…
I hope that when I am in situations where I am called upon to share my faith that I am a little more careful in choosing my words. Paul obviously was convincing… and he was well taught… and people wanted to hear what he had to say, but then he would insult them… I think mainly overstating the issue of the Gentiles, versus Peter’s approach, sharing his vision of the sheet and unclean animals, then going to Cornelius’ house… they all ended up getting baptized.
Paul obviously was very passionate… we know that earlier in Acts, he was passionately against those who believed in Jesus until his conversion… he had believers arrested and Stephen stoned!
Paul’s letters (epistles) ended up compiling half of the New Testament, and we are still benefitting from his efforts today. Misguided at times though they may have been…
I wonder how many times I maybe could have been more effective in my communication… I’m probably just as hardheaded as Paul, at times?
Lord, give me sensitivity to the people with whom I may be speaking… Help me to choose my words carefully. Help me to follow you as the Israelites did, seeking your Presence every day. Give me eyes to see and ears to hear…
