I would like to thank all of you who contributed to making our Christmas Store an overwhelming success! Through your generosity we have been able to provide hundreds of gifts for children all across the city. It has always been my heart that no child would miss Christmas, and our church family always rises to the occasion!
This weekend will be continuing our series, Fear Not. Scripture states that when the angel appeared to Zechariah (the father of John the Baptist) he was “startled and overwhelmed with fear.” But the angel reassured him, saying, “Don’t be afraid, Zechariah! God is showing grace to you. For I have come to tell you that your prayer for a child has been answered.” I really believe that God will reassure us in the things He has promised for each of our lives.
Also this weekend is our Live Nativity experience for the kids. Please make sure to dress your kids for being outside for an extended period of time. We want to make sure they are able to participate and stay warm!
This coming Wednesday,December 20th, is our Christmas Eve service at 7P, just for those who may be traveling over the holidays. This will be a family service with a candle-lighting ceremony, which is always a special moment.
The Christmas Eve Sunday services (9A and 11:15A Christmas Eve morning) will both offer children’s ministry, but no candle-lighting. The 6P Christmas Eve evening service on the 24th will also be a family service with candle-lighting. The message will be different from morning to evening, but the worship will be similar for all the services. Pick the service that best fits your schedule!

I’d also like to take a moment to invite you to go on a journey with us through the Bible in 2018. (I would love for everyone in our church family to do this with me.) We will be using the S.O.A.P. method of study. Scripture, Observation, Application and Prayer. What verses jumped out at me? What did I notice? How did these passages impact me? How does it apply to my life? And, what is my prayer in this moment? (It only takes about 30 minutes per day!)
I hope you’ll join us on this adventure! Go to dvc.life/journal to find out “How this works” and to sign up to reserve your FREE customized quarterly Vineyard Life Journal. (For those of you who are more “digital,” Scott will be blogging his way through the Bible every day on our website.) We’ll have the journals ready for distribution on New Year’s Eve weekend and officially get started on January 1st. Don’t forget to sign up!
I hope to see you this weekend…
P.S. Food for Huber is still happening tomorrow morning, even though we are having the Christmas Store. We try not to cancel our food outreaches, as that adds to the existing issue of people’s food insecurity. As always, meet at 10A at our pantry.
