I hope you have been enjoying these last days of summer. I know I have. One thing you may not know about me is, I love my woodpile. It’s therapeutic for me… Marcie and I live on a few acres outside of Xenia, so I have plenty of space to cut and stack my wood! (I also have a small tractor to cut the grass and plow the field for my sunflowers, I also have a trailer to hitch-up to help with moving my woodpile around!)
Last weekend we finished our David series. If you missed any of the series, it’s on our website at dvc.life/messages. You can watch videos of the messages… the notes are there, too. I am going to be starting a new series next weekend entitled Stronger Faith. I’m going to use Acts 2:42-47 as the foundational passage for the series:
“All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper) and to prayer. A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity—all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.”
This is the same passage we use as the rationale for all of our groups… they worshiped together at the Temple each day and met in homes. It’s clear that being in community was, and still is, an important part of the life for every believer. (Marcie and I are in a home group.) I’m really looking forward to this series!
This weekend, we have a special treat for you… Adam and Kelly Vaughan will be with us! Adam was on staff as our Discipleship Pastor until God called them to Costa Rica as missionaries. He and Kelly are two of the most encouraging people I know… I’m sure you will be enjoy them being with us! For more information about their ministry, check out www.thebackwardsmissionaries.com.
