Hello,
Hopefully we had our last blast of winter this past week. I love springtime… The past several years I’ve planted a large patch of sunflowers. Each year I look forward to watching them grow. It won’t be long before I can start the process all over again!
I wanted to let you know that we are beginning to post our weekly messages in video format. (We have a license that allows us to live stream, but not to post copyrighted worship songs long-term.) We had some issues this past weekend with the live stream due to internet interruptions. We are working on resolving that issue. Here is a link to my message from this past weekend if you missed it. CLICK HERE. We will also have the first two installments posted in the next week or so. This weekend Caleb will be speaking on “blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled (or satisfied.)”
I again want to thank those of you who attended one of our VISION:2017 meetings. I appreciate your willingness to take the time to attend, but more than that, to own your space during worship, embrace the vision of our church, and your willingness to serve and give is precious to me. We are doing one more vision meeting, for people who are new to our church. It’s going to be Sunday, March 26th after the 11:15A service in the Family Center. (I would define “new” as having started to attend over the past year or so.) I’m going to be sharing about our mission and vision and help them get connected.
For those of you who have been around for awhile, if you have participated in one of our Easter Egg Hunts over the past several years, we could use your help. This year we are attempting to pull off nearly a dozen egg hunts in neighborhoods in and around the city (including Delco Park.) We are looking for people who are willing to step up to the plate to help lead. Let Tommy Lauber know if you are interested. You can email him at tlauber@daytonvineyard.com or CLICK HERE for more information.
We are offering a Healing 1 course in conjunction with our Dayton School of Ministry training. (You don’t have to be registered for the school to attend this particular class.) Wednesdays, March 29th through May 31st from 6:30-8:30P. Registration is required. The $50 fee includes the course textbook “Doing Healing: How to Minister God’s Kingdom in the Power of the Spirit” by Alexander Venter. Registration deadline is THIS Sunday, March 19th. For all the details, CLICK HERE or email Mike Coons at mcoons@daytonvineyard.com.
One last item… people often ask me about baptism. Baptism is not a requirement for membership at the Vineyard. We do child dedications for our infants and younger children and suggest that everyone else get baptized. (Did you know Jesus was dedicated on the 8th day, but was baptized when he was 30?) We have a brief orientation that we ask everyone to attend prior to getting baptized, just to answer those types of questions. Our next baptism service is going to be during our Open Heavens, Sunday evening April 9th. The adult orientation is scheduled for Sunday, April 9th at 6P in the Lodge, please register HERE. If your children have decided to be baptized, they can attend orientation with Joy on either April 2nd from 9-10:30A or Wednesday, April 5 from 7-8:30P in the FLC. For more info contact Joy Harvey at jharvey@daytonvineyard.com or register HERE.
I look forward to seeing you this weekend!
Warmly,
Doug
P.S. Food for Huber is tomorrow morning, 10A at our pantry or 10:45A at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 5464 Troy Pike in Huber Heights. I can’t be there every time, but I try to make it as often as possible. It just depends on our speaking schedule and other things in my calendar. It’s a great opportunity to get plugged in and to love on people in the community.
