This weekend we will be continuing our UNITED series… The focus this week is “Demonstrating the Good News.” What does it mean to live a life of faith? Acts chapter 1 states, “but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
The Apostle Paul recorded this prayer in one of his letters, “and I pray that the fellowship of your faith may become effective through the knowledge of every good thing which is in you for Christ’s sake.” (Philemon 1:6) What does it mean to become “effective” in our faith? That’s what Caleb is going to help us explore this weekend… How to be effective in sharing our faith with others and the world around us.
We are now just one week from ReviveDayton! It starts NEXT SUNDAY evening, October 23, 6P at Vineyard Church. The event will be pretty much all day, every day for a week. Each day will begin with prayer at 7A, followed by breakfast. At 9A teams will organize and go out to pray for other churches. At noon we will meet for lunch and share testimonies. (Each day this lunch meeting will be hosted at a different church.) At 2P teams will re-organize and go out to pray for people across the region. We will reconvene at 5:30P for dinner at Vineyard Church, followed by a time of worship, testimonies and baptisms at 7P! It’s going to be an exciting week!
Excitement is beginning to build as word has gotten out about what has been happening up in Darke and Auglaize counties over the past month or so. Hundreds of people (many of them high-school-age) have said yes to Jesus. Schools, the courts and businesses have opened their doors… One family that owns eight McDonalds invited a team to offer prayer to their employees and customers! (CLICK HERE to watch the testimonial video recorded at McDonalds!)
One chiropractor even sent out an email inviting all of his patients to receive prayer by another team! Many schools have opened their doors and invited teams to speak at various events. We are already seeing doors beginning to open in and around Dayton in similar fashion. Several schools have already expressed interest, and more churches are coming on board every day!
The question we are all being asked is, “What are you asking us to do?” All we are asking is that everyone participate at some point. If you are an early riser, join us for prayer at 7A. If you love the adventure of going out into the streets, join us for one of those sessions. Or simply join us for an evening of testimonies and worship to help celebrate what God is doing! There is also a discipleship component to this effort. We need hundreds of people willing to do one-on-one discipleship as people say yes to Christ. And you are certainly welcome to participate as much as your schedule allows. No need to register, and there is no cost to attend. I’m so excited to see what the Lord is going to do through our church family and city-wide through all the churches working together to share the gospel! If you know other pastors, leaders or business owners in the area, forward this email to them with a personal invitation to join us. (We are praying for at least 74 churches to participate.) If they have questions, have them contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
