This weekend I will be continuing our current message series, UNITED. This series is all about our mission to walk in unity to reach those who are lost. People are really precious to the Lord… our salvation is precious to him. Jesus looked at the crowds with compassion. The Apostle Paul was driven by compassion to share about Christ, to the point of being imprisoned…
I’m going to raise a few questions regarding our beliefs… What are our beliefs that are essential? I was wondering how many of you grew up like I did reciting the Apostle’s Creed every week in church? What we believe is important… But I believe we can walk hand in hand without seeing eye to eye on everything. I like what Paul said, “While I was with you I claimed to know nothing except Jesus Christ and him crucified” 1 Corinthians 2:2. That is what I would consider as an “essential” belief.
If you have never attended our membership series, Vineyard 101 starts this Sunday, October 9 (during the 11:15A service in the Lodge.) At this 3-week series you will have the opportunity to hear more about what we believe, our story, mission and vision, meet some of our staff and get connected.
ReviveDayton starts Sunday evening, October 23 at the Vineyard. The event will be pretty much all day, every day for a week. Each day will begin with prayer at 7A, followed by breakfast. At 9A teams will organize and go out to pray for other churches. At noon we will meet for lunch and share testimonies. (Each day this lunch meeting will be hosted at a different church.) At 2P teams will re-organize and go out to pray for people across the region. We will reconvene at 5:30P for dinner, followed by a time of worship, testimonies and baptisms at 7P! It’s going to be an exciting week!
The question I am being asked is, “What are you asking us to do?” All I am asking is that everyone participate at some point. If you are an early riser, join us for prayer at 7A. If you love the adventure of going out into the streets, join us for one of those sessions. Or simply join us for an evening of testimonies and worship to help celebrate what God is doing! You are certainly welcome to participate as much as your schedule allows. No need to register, and there is no cost to attend. I’m so excited to see what the Lord is going to do through our church family and city-wide through all the churches working together to share the gospel! For more information check out timetorevive.com or reviveoh.com.
There is one other thing you could do… If you know other pastors and leaders in the area, forward this email to them with a personal invitation to join us. (We are praying for 74 churches to participate.) If they have questions, have them contact me at email@example.com.
There are so many great things happening around our city! I also want to let you know that our friends at United Theological Seminary are hosting a Holy Spirit seminar December 2, focusing on Activating Gifts of the Spirit for Ministry. For more information CLICK HERE.
We are in the process of upgrading our coffee bar, with the help of Winan’s Coffee! We will be painting and sprucing up the area, installing new brewers… We are also offering barista training Wednesday, October 12, 6:30P in the coffee bar in the upper main lobby of the Worship Center. If you would like to attend the training, contact Angie Bailey at firstname.lastname@example.org. We would love to have you serve on our team!
Our Barnabas Generation (age 50+) is hosting a brunch in the Lodge, TOMORROW, Saturday, October 8 at 10A. We will share a meal together followed by a time of worship featuring traditional hymns. Bring a brunch dish to share. For more information email Ron Bechtold at email@example.com.
Our Open Heavens night of worship is this Sunday night, October 9 at 7P. “Open Heavens” is an extended time of worship… Often times there are prophetic words that are shared, and words of knowledge that ignite times of ministry.
We will also be doing baptisms during this event. If you would like to get baptized, REGISTER HERE. We ask that you attend our Baptism Orientation at 6P Sunday in the Family Center. Contact Joy Harvey for more info at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I look forward to seeing you this weekend,
P.S. If you have administrative skills and you would like to volunteer at church, we are looking for a few admin assistants to help ease the load on our staff. Flexible hours and schedule. If you are interested contact Kevin Hoffman at email@example.com.
