I hope this note finds you well. It’s hard to believe the kids are back to school and the end of summer is just around the corner!
This weekend I will be continuing our message series, The Good LIfe by speaking on stewardship. Actually, this entire series is about stewardship, but this weekend I will be speaking more specifically about financial stewardship and about God being more than enough.
Genesis 2:15 states, “The Lord God took the man and placed him in the orchard in Eden to care for it and to maintain it.” This verse speaks to God’s desire for us to take responsibility for the things He has entrusted to us, including our finances. The Apostle Paul wrote, “I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at last your care for me has flourished again; though you surely did care, but you lacked opportunity. Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content.” (Philippians 4:10-11.) I think it’s easier to be content when we take responsibility, and gain control of our finances. There is nothing worse than being deep in debt and feeling as though you never have enough to make ends meet.
Our Hope and Discovery Center Reading Volunteer Training is September 7, 2016. Kris Wood, a reading specialist with Wilmington Schools, will be providing training for anyone who would like to volunteer to read with children at our Hope and Discovery Center.
This training will cover the basic routine we will be doing during reading time; how to read to a child or have them read to you, so that the child has the most beneficial reading time. As well as the skills and activities any adult can do with the children to further their reading ability. CLICK HERE to register.
Our next Open Heavens Night of Worship is this Sunday night September 11 at 7P. Open Heavens is a great opportunity for us to enjoy an extended time of worship. The atmosphere is faith-filled, with anticipation and expectation. Often times there are prophetic words that are shared, and words of knowledge that ignite times of ministry. I hope you can join us!
I also wanted to let you know that we will be hosting a time of intercessory prayer Sunday mornings at 8A in the Lodge, starting September 4. All are welcome! Questions? Email Aurora Newton at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I look forward to seeing you this weekend,
