I’m so excited about this weekend! Starting with TONIGHT’S Back to School Festival! (Friday, August 5, 2016.)
We are setting up our festival in the green space between Forest Ave and Main Street along Helena Street across from our Riverdale Campus. We are providing school supplies for 500+ kids… and our friends from Shoes4theShoeless will be with us, putting new shoes on all the kids in need! Feel free to stop by from 6-8 PM. If you would like to serve, just show up early and find a place where you can help out. If you were planning to donate toward school supplies, you can still do that by clicking HERE. (School supply kits are $30 per student.)
Our friend Robbie Dawkins will also be with us this weekend! He will be speaking at all 3 services (Saturday, 5:30 PM; Sunday 9 & 11:15 AM) and he will also be speaking at our Open Heavens night of worship, this Sunday night at 7 PM. Childcare available for kids age 5 and under. We will have an extended time of worship, message and ministry time. (Beginning in September, Open Heavens will be on the 2nd Sunday night of each month!)
School is starting soon and that means… UpGrade Weekend! To celebrate this milestone for our kids and teens we will be having a family ice cream social following each service on August 13 & 14!
I also wanted to mention that we have several groups that will be starting later in September that are offering preview events. Our Women’s Ministry is having a movie night (“Miracles from Heaven” based on a true story) next Friday, August 12, 6:30-9 PM in the FC. CLICK HERE to view the movie trailer.
Our Men’s Ministry is having a kickoff/interest meeting Wednesday, August 17 in the Lodge to talk about groups and other events (i.e. camping trip September 24-25!) Mark your calendars now!
Our Barnabas Generation group (age 50+) is hosting a picnic Saturday, August 13, 2016. 11 AM to 4 PM at Lofino Park, 640 Grange Hall Road in Beavercreek.
I’m also very excited to announce that Bob and Joy Harvey will be facilitating a 9-week parenting class this fall on Thursday nights!
This is just a handful of the groups that will be starting this fall. Keep an eye on www.daytonvineyard.com as the details unfold for all our upcoming events.
I look forward to seeing you this weekend!
P.S. If you have been wanting to get involved in serving the community, it’s really easy. Just show up tonight at our Back to School Festival… or tomorrow morning at Food for Fairborn, 10 AM at the church… We bag groceries every Wednesday at 5:30 PM for an hour or so. Or, you could help with the Thursday breakfast at our Riverdale community site (aka Dayton campus) every Thursday morning. Or you could serve in our after school program at our Hope and Discovery Center! CLICK HERE for more info.
