I’m excited to share something with you… As you know back May we participated in Love Dayton. Hundreds of people went out into the community to serve and invite others. We helped champion that cause, and I couldn’t be more proud of our church family!
Along the way, I gave an interview about our involvement in Love Dayton that was recently published in the German version of Charisma magazine! (I snapped a few photos of the article, just to show you.) How cool is that? And, it looks like I might be invited to Germany at some point to teach a group of churches about how to impact their cities!
For me, outreach is just an outflow of God’s love in my own life. It’s my response to God’s love that I have personally experienced. I want to show that love to the people around me. This weekend, I’m going to be talking about God’s love and “loving from a deeper love” from Luke 19:1-10 and the story of Zacchaeus.
I also want to thank everyone for coming out to our Summer Splash pool party! We had around 700 people, a ton of hot-dogs, ice cream and fun. The weather was perfect (although it was REALLY hot when we first arrived!) but no rain, lots of sun! I hope you had as much fun as we all did. Our staff loved serving you!
Our Leader Community meeting is TONIGHT (Friday, July 29) at 7 PM in the Lodge. We are creating an environment where all of our leaders from various areas of ministry can connect, receive some ministry, training and encouragement. We often will worship together, pray for each other and share testimonies. (But building relationship and community is the main goal!) Bring a side dish or dessert to share.
We are throwing a Back to School Festival, August 5, 6-8 PM at our Riverdale Campus, where we will be distributing school supplies and new shoes while having a great time in the process. This is a very practical way to show God’s kindness to over 500 inner-city kids and their families! If you would like to donate toward purchasing school supply kits, CLICK HERE TO SERVE OR DONATE. Each kit contains all the supplies a student needs to start the school year. $30 for each kit purchased.
If you want to purchase school supplies for us to distribute, we can always use: (But you have to bring them with you to church this weekend. Thanks!)
Pencil boxes (younger children)
Zipper pencil case (older children)
White glue sticks
4 oz bottle of school glue
5 tab dividers
Loose leaf filler paper – wide rule
Large, fat pencils for kindergarten
3 1/2 x 5 index cards
Our next Open Heavens night of worship is next Sunday, August 7 at 7 PM. Our friend Robby Dawkins, author of “Do What Jesus Did” will be with us that weekend, too. (Beginning in September, our plan is to have an Open Heavens on the 2nd Sunday night of each month.)
By the way, I heard that we have a few of the Vineyard travel mugs left over from Father’s Day… They will be available at our coffee bar this weekend for $10!
P.S. Marcie asked me to pass along this information regarding a Kingdom Painting class she is facilitating at the Vineyard. Thursdays, August 4-25, 6-8 PM. You will learn techniques of acrylics and other mediums for the purpose of creative and spiritually impacting painting during worship. You are responsible to bring your own canvases, brushes and acrylic paints. Teen and adults are welcome. No experience necessary. $20 per person. Interested? Contact Marcie at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Here is a painting I recently painted on stage during worship.
