Easter weekend is finally here!
Tomorrow is our big outreach day with SIX Easter Egg Hunts across our community! If you never got around to signing up, simply show up tomorrow/Saturday at Delco Park at 9 AM (to help set up) or 10 AM to help with the Easter Egg Hunt. We distributed our new outreach tee shirts to all of our volunteers at last night’s meeting. We may still have a few available to distribute at the event, on a first-come-first-served basis. (The weather is looking great for tomorrow, by the way!)
Thanks to all who attended our Easter Egg Hunt volunteer meeting last night!
Why do we do all of this? Why do we invest so much time, energy and money reaching out to our community? Not just for our Easter Egg Hunts, but our food pantry at the church provides groceries to 100 families every week in addition to Food for Fairborn and Food for Huber… In total, we provide groceries to nearly 1,000 families every month! We do all of this to show God’s love in practical ways. Jesus said, “I was hungry and you fed me.” He went on to say that whatever we have done to the least of these, we have done to him. I love this quote from Mother Teresa, “Small things done with great love will change the world!” I believe this to be true.
When I think about Easter, I think about Matthew 28 when the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.” That is the good news of the Gospel… that Jesus is alive!
Then, the final few verses in Matthew 28 is where Jesus went on to say “Go into all the world and make disciples.” (It’s known as “The Great Commission.”) It’s our heart and our vision to take this good news into all the world. We believe that starts right here in our community!
Thank you for your participation in The Great Commission through your serving, praying and giving.
I hope you will be joining us to celebrate Easter with us this weekend!
