In this weekend’s installment of our current message series “Unfailing Love” I am going to be talking about “covenant” relationship. When most people hear that term, they immediately default to the marriage relationship. But covenant relationship is broader than that. It simply means that we are committed to working through issues… that we are going to keep our love on… that our commitment to one another means that our relationships are not easily discarded.
I love this verse in Jeremiah 32 that describes God’s love and His covenant with us as “an everlasting covenant.” This verse goes on to say, “I will never stop doing good for them. I will put a desire in their hearts to worship me, and they will never leave me.”
My desire for all of us, married or single, is that we would experience that kind of love and commitment in all of our relationships.
To that end, we are offering a 10-week course on Tuesday nights starting February 23 entitled “Marriage for a Lifetime.” Registration fee is $40 per couple. That includes course materials and a relationship assessment that will identify your strengths and areas that need strengthening. Childcare is provided and the course is facilitated by Kevin Hoffman.
Also, last weekend during my message I mentioned an online resource for married couples. The web address is http://www.marriagetoday.com. MarriageToday founders Jimmy and Karen Evans are passionate about helping couples build strong marriages. You can receive their FREE weekly email by clicking HERE. They have over 100 resources available on their website!
This Saturday (2/13/16) Steve Bowen is leading our Kiss Dayton outreach. This is a very simple outreach where we give Hershey kisses, along with a card, to folks on the street and see how God opens the door for a conversation (and possibly even prayer). Meet at the coffee bar in the upper main lobby of the Worship Center at 11 AM, then we will head down to Brown Street near the U.D. campus (There is a Starbucks on Brown Street. If it’s really cold Saturday, We can warm up in there and get a coffee or a hot chocolate). Questions? Email Steve at email@example.com
By the way, our Barnabas Generation group is having a potluck brunch tomorrow (Saturday, February 13) at 10 AM in the FLC (enter under the green awning). If you are age 50+, feel free to stop by. Scott will be leading worship and I will be sharing a few words (Make sure you bring a dish to share).
I look forward to seeing you this weekend. I typically am camped out in the lower lobby after each service. If you usually enter and exit via the upper main entrance, take a moment either before or after the service to swing by and say hello. I’d love to take a moment and catch up with you!
P.S. Here is a short list of upcoming events:
