I am so excited about this coming weekend! After covering a rather difficult topic last week (purity/sex… not an easy topic to speak on) this week’s message should be a little easier for all of us. I’m going to be speaking on the art of getting along. Still, not easy to walk out, but keeping our connections, while still having good boundaries is an art, to say the least. We are all wired so differently, and we were all raised differently, so we all approach our relationships differently.
That’s why we are doing this message series, Unfailing Love, because God’s love for us is unfailing. We all have room to grow in how we communicate, as well as how we view and work on our relationships. Relational Maturity is one of our Vineyard Core Values: Growing healthy multi-generational, life-giving, Christ-centered relationships in our church, small groups, families, and communities. It takes a lot of effort, but pays huge dividends in our lives if we are willing to learn and grow.
Lately, I have sensed a growing momentum in our services. There have been some great times of worship and I have also been noticing a warmth in the room — a sense of “family” developing. Our attendance has been up each week for the past three weeks and our Saturday service has grown by 70 people! We have been working and praying about this for several months and I believe we are now beginning to see the fruit from that hard work.
We are about to enter a very busy season for our church. In addition to launching our Vineyard Groups, we are busy planning our Easter Egg outreaches. We are planning to do several events this year. Our big Delco Park event and a few smaller neighborhood events across the city, including one at our Riverdale site and one near Page Manor off Airway Road in Riverside. If you would like to participate in one of these events, please let Steve Bowen know at email@example.com.
There are always way too many events happening for me to mention all of them, but if you go to our website at www.daytonvineyard.com all of the events are listed including all of the details. Click on Menu then select Vineyard Groups.
Here is a short list of upcoming events:
- Barnabas Generation Launch Event, Saturday, February 13
- Creative Arts Groups are kicking off with an Open House February 13-14 after each service in the Creative Arts Room (old teen center by our office lobby.) Some of our creatives will have their work on display and for sale.
- Women’s Night of Worship is Friday, February 19
- Marriage for a Lifetime series begins Tuesday, February 23
- Men’s and Women’s Bible Studies begin Wednesday, February 24 (There’s also a Women’s study on Tuesday mornings!)
