I’m really looking forward to being with you all this weekend. Marcie and I certainly enjoyed our time in Colorado with family over Thanksgiving (and as you know, I love the mountains) but I always look forward to coming home and being with you all.
I heard Caleb did a great job the past two weekends communicating the vision for Simplify Christmas. This past weekend’s message about hope being found in relationships encouraged each of us to develop life-giving relationships. I have also heard there was a lot of ministry that took place. Our prayer ministry teams do such an amazing job!
If you missed last weekend’s message, you can listen to it by clicking HERE.
This weekend I will be speaking about the journey of Christmas. Matthew’s account of the Christmas story includes the journey of the wise men that followed the star, arriving when Jesus was a young child. “And when they had come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.”
When they saw Jesus, they fell down and worshipped him. Wise men still worship him today. People today are still searching and I want to lead as many people to him as possible.
Toys are starting to appear under the Christmas trees in our lobbies! Many of you have already signed up to serve at our Christmas Store, but I wanted to let you know that we are also having a Christmas Store at our Riverdale location to serve those in the surrounding community. There are currently 20+ positions available to serve there as well. The Riverdale Christmas Store will be open Wednesday, December 16 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, the same time as our Beavercreek Store.
Each child will receive two gifts. Our church family is so generous we have never come up short on gifts (we need approximately 2,200)! That sounds like a big number, but we have met that need year after year. If each family in our church contributes just a couple of gifts, we will easily exceed it again.
If you like, you can shop online and have gifts shipped directly to the church. We have a Simplify Christmas Wish List set up on Amazon.com to make your shopping a little easier. CLICK HERE TO SHOP.
In addition to our Christmas Stores, we are going to receive an offering that will go toward developing our Center for Hope and Discovery. The idea is to create a safe learning environment with state-of-the-art technology to help kids meet educational benchmarks as well as discover their identity and meaning. It’s our desire to provide a better path toward their future!

Together we can change the course of lives here on this earth and for all of eternity!
P.S. If you have never checked out our Riverdale congregation, Simplify Christmas is a great opportunity to do so (And, if you weren’t aware, we also do a community breakfast every Thursday). You are always welcome to serve at that as well. Arrive to serve at 9 AM, breakfast is served at 10 AM at 1222 N. Main Street, Dayton, OH 45405.
