I hope you were able to attend one of our Baptism celebrations this past weekend. Baptizing all those people as we worshiped was so much fun and you could really sense God’s presence in the room (as well as with the testimonies video)!
This weekend we will be continuing our BRAVE series. Hebrews 10:35 simply states, “Do not throw away your confidence.”
Not that we consciously make the choice to throw it away — perhaps it’s more that we let it slip away. The times when we might be tempted to throw it away is in a time of loss, like getting fired from a job, or going through a divorce. It’s easy when we are emotionally down to be tempted to just give up. Jesus said, “In this world you will have trouble, but take heart, I have overcome the world!” I choose to put my confidence in him, not in myself, my abilities or my job.
“Why are you cast down, O my soul?
And why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him
For the help of His countenance.
O my God, my soul is cast down within me;
Therefore I will remember You…”
What do you do when your soul is downcast? Sometimes we all need a friend, someone to talk to. If you are going through a time of loss or grief, we have a few groups in which you might be interested. Life After Loss, Cancer Companions and Widow 2 Widow, for instance. Some of our Care Groups meet on Tuesdays, others meet on Wednesdays or Sundays. For more information on all of our various groups, click here.
Along with that, our Community of Hope offers support to meet several areas of need. This past year, our CoH team made 344 visits (That’s over 1,000 hours of pastoral care provided by our ministry partners from Community of Hope)! 546 people received direct care by one or more of our 30 trained pastoral caregivers.
If someone in your family is in the hospital, a retirement home, a special care facility, or if you know someone who is in jail, our team stands ready to visit them. Simply call the Vineyard Church office at 937-427-1912 or Kevin Hoffman at 937-520-8496.
I look forward to seeing you this weekend.
