Welcome to my online blog for our Vineyard Life Journal!
This forum IS NOT for debate or to correct each other, but to share our insights and observations. (Actually, I will be keeping a pretty tight rein on the comments section, and I will have the ability to block trolls, spammers or those who just want to stir the pot.)
Before you comment or read what I have posted, read today’s passages for yourself and complete your own S.O.A.P. exercise… (If you read mine first, it may taint what you think.)

Here is my SOAP for today, Wednesday, November 7, 2018
Job 31:1 “I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a young woman.”
5 “ or my foot has hurried after deceit—6 let God weigh me in honest scales and he will know that I am blameless…” [THAT’S confidence!]
Job 32 “So these three men stopped answering Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes. 2 But Elihu son of Barakel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, became very angry with Job for justifying himself rather than God. 3 He was also angry with the three friends, because they had found no way to refute Job, and yet had condemned him. 4 Now Elihu had waited before speaking to Job because they were older than he. 5 But when he saw that the three men had nothing more to say, his anger was aroused.”
Galatians 5:1 “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”
13 “You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
16 “So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.”
19-21 The acts of the flesh [LONG list]… 22-23 The fruit of the Spirit… [LONG list]
Galatians 6:1 “Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. Butwatch yourselves, or you also may be tempted.”
7 “A man reaps what he sows. 8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”
“If I… If my…”
I love that Job while defending himself simply says, “If I… If my…” allowing room for God to speak or reveal… I’m sure Job wasn’t PERFECT, I’m sure he wasn’t without fault… but the truth is that God allowed everything that happened to Job because he WAS a righteous man. There is a difference between righteous and perfect. No one is perfect…
Thank You Lord that YOU are the one who makes us righteous before you. It’s not how God I am or how much I stay “out of trouble.” Thank you that YOU are my defender! The author and perfecter of my faith.
