How’s your memory? Do you ever forget keys, phone, or maybe kids? We forgot Caleb once and left him at church (only for an hour). God warns Israel about developing spiritual forgetfulness.
When you enter your promise land…
The Lord said to Israel, “The houses will be richly stocked with goods you did not produce. You will draw water from cisterns you did not dig, and you will eat from vineyards and olive trees you did not plant. When you have eaten your fill in this land, be careful not to forget the Lord, who rescued you from slavery in the land of Egypt.” (Deuteronomy 6:11-12 NLT)
It’s sad but true how easy it is to forget the Lord who has given us everything we need for life and godliness. My aunt had Alzheimer’s a few years back. The doctors advised us to create ways to help her remember. I think we need little things to keep our spiritual memory functioning well.
Here are a few suggestions
- Life Journal
- Daily Bible reading
- Recording and reviewing answered prayers
- Tell your story often to family & friends
- Pictures on your phone. I take pictures of people and things I am praying about.
- Make notes in your Bible
May we never forget the Lord and his kindness displayed in each of our lives.
