Happy New Year to you and yours! I’d like to start by saying “Thank you” for your friendship and support. 2017 was a great year and 2018 is going to be even better. We are planning a Vision 2018 meeting for the first Friday in February, so mark your calendars now. I will be sharing our vision for this year as well as giving you an update on several projects we have been working on. (Registration has not started yet, I’m just giving you a heads up.)
I wanted to let you know that this note is going to morph into more of a newsletter format, to be sent out on Tuesday afternoons. My weekly Note will be geared toward those involved in our Life Journal Bible reading program. I will be sharing my insights and observations each week. We have over 300 people who have committed to reading through the Bible in 2018! That’s very exciting!
It’s not too late to get started. We are already 5 days in, but you can still catch up. You can register for the program on our website by clicking HERE. Scott is also blogging about each day’s reading. To check out his blog, CLICK HERE. There you can also find information regarding some opportunities to connect while doing the Life Journal. Scott is hosting some “pop up” groups at various locations (Panera, Tim Horton’s and Starbucks) on different days at different times.
I am kicking off a new weekend message series this weekend on the Armor of God entitled, Gearing Up. Ephesians 6 says:
“Put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.”
At our 9A service this Sunday, we will be praying for and sending out a mission team of 22 people to Costa Rica, where they will be doing work at Homes of Life (orphanage) and working with young women rescued from sex trade and other abusive situations. (They will also be meeting up with our friends, the Vaughan’s, to help with some projects and outreach they are doing!)
We will also be offering Communion this weekend during worship at all services.
If you would like to get connected at our church, no matter how long you have been attending, check out Starting Line. It’s a two week series where you will have the opportunity to meet some of our staff, hear our history, discuss our future vision, ask questions, get connected and make some friends along the way. Sessions will be in the Lodge during the 11:15A service on the 2nd and 3rd Sundays of the month (January 14th & 21st). No need to register. Please attend both sessions.
Are you interested in becoming a part of our prophetic team? If so, you will want to register for School of the Prophetic. This 5-week class for basic training in the prophetic will be on Thursday’s from 6:30-9P starting January 18th . Cost $25. Childcare available for children up to age 10. Register by January 14th. To register, CLICK HERE.
I hope your 2018 is off to a great start!
P.S. Food for Fairborn is still happening (no matter how cold it is.) The people who receive food from us are counting on us being there. Meet at our pantry at 10A Saturday morning.
