Hello from Anaheim, California!
Marcie and I are currently in Anaheim for the Vineyard’s National Conference. It has been great reconnecting with old friends and hearing about where the Association of Vineyard Churches is headed.
Last weekend Marcie and I visited Bethel Church in Redding, California. Sunday night, Marcie was invited to paint on stage during their worship. It was an honor, and very exciting! Here is a photo of the painting she created…
As you know, I asked our church family to join me in praying about the heroin crisis in our city. The verse I have been meditating on is Isaiah 54:17, “No weapon formed against us will prevail” (#NoWeapon). I believe in the power of prayer to effect change, and I also believe in doing practical things to make a difference. That’s why we are doing our Tools for School campaign and tutoring kids at our Hope and Discovery Center. It takes both prayer AND action to change things. (We will be taking up a special offering for Tools for School in the next week or two.)
This weekend we will be continuing our current message series, Practical Wisdom from the book of James. This week is James chapter 3, Words of Wisdom. “Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body.” Our words can build up, or our words can tear down.

There is always way too much happening for me to mention everything in my note… You can always go to dvc.life for information on all of our events, groups and other happenings.
One last item of sad news… You may have heard in the news last week about a 14 year old girl in Dayton, Mackenna Kronenberger, who was killed by a stray bullet. She is the niece of one of our staff, Shauna Davis, our Early Childhood Coordinator. Kevin Hoffman did the memorial service for the family this morning. Please keep them covered in prayer. This was such a tragic loss…
P.S. Don’t forget to sign up for our Barnabas Generation Ark Encounter this coming Monday, July 17th! To sign up CLICK HERE.
